Sonos Ace Ultra spotted at the FCC

While the FCC has the power to take away things like new robot vacuums, a company’s FCC certification filings can sometimes surface in public records and reveal future products. This time it’s Sonos with what looks to be a new, potentially more premium version of their Ace headphones. The interesting detail for the smart home is that these are supposed to work with 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. This could just be for existing features like taking audio bound for your Sonos sound bar, but it could also be for headphones that could be controlled like a Sonos speaker on your network. Don’t forget about the option to then tie this to automations from Homey, Home Assistant, or elsewhere to queue your favorite playlist.

Aqara FP400 nears release

Aqara announced on their forums this week that they’ve started a public beta program for their new FP400 presence sensor that was initially announced at CES in January. If you are just reading this now, you might be a little late to join the test. But it’s a notable milestone as we get closer to this successor to the Aqara FP2. Hopefully, we’ll hear more from Aqara about a release date for this device at IFA in a few weeks.

Friday Night Baseball coming to Apple Vision Pro

I continue to love my Apple Vision Pro, and I continue to use it every week. One of the most compelling features is immersive video. I know this sounds cheesy, but every time I watch immersive videos, I leave feeling awed by what I just experienced. It’s the same sensation I remember as a kid in Virginia, walking out of immersive IMAX dome movies at my local science museum.

I loved watching one of the NBA games in immersive video, but watching a sports game after-the-fact looses a lot of the appeal. I’m excited to try this experience live and see how it goes. I hope progress in this new way to watch stuff doesn’t die on the vine of what must be withering Apple Vision Pro sales.
