iOS 27 speculation
Mark Gurman has the scoop on what iOS 27 will look like with information about all the AI features. Bloomberg is behind a paywall, but MacRumors has a pretty good commentary post about the article you can read for free. I love the idea that Apple’s devices will finally be able to surface answers to many more questions. I hope they catch up with Amazon by adding this to HomePod as well. I can see this being a great use for a HomePod with a screen as well.
Shane Whatley interviewed Daniel Moneta
Daniel Moneta wears a number of hats in his smart home roles, including serving as the Product & Marketing lead for the Matter working group at the CSA, as well as his primary role at Samsung SmartThings in marketing. He’s a great person to speak for the Matter group, where things are going in the industry, and the context for the upcoming Unify conference next month in Austin, TX. Shane asked some great questions this week on his live stream, and I highly recommend checking out the interview if you haven’t already.
ThirdReality Smart Presence Sensor R2
ThirdReality launched its Smart Present Sensor R2. This is similar to their existing Smart Presence Sensor R3, but it runs on battery instead of USB-C power, and does not have the additional air quality and night light features. I have not tested this new sensor, but other ThirdReality products I’ve used work well with Zigbee paired with my Homey Pro mini or Home Assistant.
The schedule
Last week, it was nice to get back to a regular live stream. On that stream, I announced that I’m building a new Apple Home app called Buttonate to make it much easier to control your smart home with buttons. On Friday, I opened up the beta for my YouTube channel members.
I also have a video on the Denon Home speakers coming soon.
I hope you have a great rest of your Sunday,
Eric
