Sonos Era 100 SL
It’s rare these days that something gets more affordable, but the entry price of a Mac laptop is not the only one to get cheaper this week. Sonos announced a new Sonos Play portable speaker, as well as a speaker I’m interested in, the Era 100 SL. Like the Sonos One SL. It retails for $40 less at $189 for an Era 100 SL instead of $219 for the regular Era 100. I use Era 100s as my rear home theater speakers as well as a speaker in my kitchen. The dual drivers in the one speaker really make for incredible sound. I even prefer the sound on the Era 100 over Apple HomePods, especially in a stereo pair. If you’re in the market for Sonos speakers, this new Era 100 SL is definitely one to consider.
MacBook Neo Fascination
I have no need for a MacBook Neo and don’t plan to buy one, but I find the details reviewers are uncovering fascinating. iFixit declared it the most repairable computer Apple has made in 14 years. Tyler Stalman was able to run a surprising amount of pro photo and video work on it. MKBHD called it the most disruptive product Apple has made in the last decade.
I love how Apple’s Mac mini hits a price point and size that opens the Mac to new people and use cases. The MacBook Neo is clearly the laptop version of that, with way broader appeal.
Apple: The First 50 Years
It’s a book by David Pogue, released this past week in advance of Apple’s 50th anniversary on April 1st. I ordered a physical copy, but I have not had a chance to read the book yet. If you are looking for the latest and greatest historical book on Apple, this sounds like it offers many new perspectives, including on the years when Steve Jobs was not at the company. I would recommend reading the physical version or an ebook on a color screen. Flipping through the physical copy, I’m surprised at the number of photos and colorful callouts that feel like a textbook.
Thanks to the book and the anniversary, long-time Apple marketing executive Phil Schiller will be interviewed by David Pogue this Wednesday at SXSW in Austin, TX. I’ll be keeping an eye out for a recording of this interview to be posted online.
The Schedule
If you look at my YouTube channel, single video and a live stream. Behind the scenes, it’s the complete opposite. I am moving as fast as I can on so many video projects. Soon you will start to see all the different things I’ve been working on, and I’m very excited to share it all with you. Subscribe on YouTube so you don’t miss it.
I hope you have a great rest of your Sunday.
