The Last Butterfly

Okay, so, I didn’t get to go to that party. Oh well.

The other night I watched a pretty awesome movie: The Butterfly Effect. When I was 10 or 11, I used to write stories all the time. I had one that was like that movie, except you traversed time using a necklace or something. The general idea was the same: go back in time, change things, everything’s different in the future. I can’t say it was a very original plot; but, the addition of the character controlling it himself as a carry-over from his father was neat. All in all, it was a very good movie. Too bad the main role was portrayed by such a deplorable “actor.”

Ashton Kutcher did an absolutely dreadful job in this movie. I failed to see the conveyance of his love for Kayleigh (portrayed by Amy Smart, a real life, decent actress you may remember as TCW from Scrubs), or any other of the main characters. I failed to ever see him convey any feelings with any element throughout the entire movie. The only decent part was when he killed the sadistic son of a bitch of a brother in the “fratboy” future. He just seemed dumbfounded throughout the entire film. Horrible. Absolutely abysmal.

Last night, I watched The Last Samurai, again. I actually like this movie quite a bit, even though it’s a total load of shit. How condescending can Hollywood get? The last surviving Samurai in Japan is indeed not Japanese, but American. Yeah, that’s plausible.

I’m hoping I can get up to Bunker Hill some time today or tomorrow. I need a mental health day, and that’s the best way to go.
